Weckls Dvd's.

Yeah, Weckl doesn't sound particularly passionate about giving instruction on the "How to Practice" video, but in comparison to the clips of the Steve Smith DVD that I've seen and heard, I would MUCH rather listen to Dave. As great as he is, Smith sounds drunk/stoned when he's talking, and he seems difficult to follow, though his playing speaks for itself. You know what they say.....Geniuses in one area are inept in others. That's just the way it goes. At least we're getting SOMETHING from all of our heroes! [img]smile.gif[/img]

Wow, man. I don't mean to bust balls, but I've got to disagree about Steve's DVD. There's a good reason it got voted best DVD in MD this year. It's a great look into the roots of the drums as you and I play them. As for his speech, that's just his voice, and the way he talks. He's a very easy going, down to earth guy.......

Steve Smith talks maybe a little bit soft but on the other hand he carries out a relaxness (is that a word?) which gives inspiration to copy. One of my favourite instructional DVD's right now. And I must admit before gigging I watch often this DVD or Erskine's video and the whole evening I play as relaxed I can without tensioning, without holding my right shoulder up and I keep on breathing and grooving during rough parts and fills. Great DVD and great inspiration. We want more of these!!! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

heh if u want an entertaining "celeb instructional video" grab a copy of "Brain Lessons"(Brain played for Primus and now plays for GnR).....

it's the most hilarious video/dvd ive seen, guy even eats ice scream while explaining things [img]cool.gif[/img]

Guys......I didn't mean to imply that Smith is a bad person or that he isn't knowledgable about what he does. I was simply comparing the experience of listening to he and Weckl as they explain things. Sorry if it came off as a rip on Smith's integrity...that's not at all what I meant. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
